The compositions of Spanish (Open and Women’s) teams for the upcoming 44th Chess Olympiad 2022 in Chennai have been announced!

Spanish Team (Open section):

1. Francisco Pons Vallejo (2704)
2. Alexei Shirov (2695)
3. David Anton Guijarro (2691)
4. Jaime Santos Latasa (2672)
5. Eduardo Iturrizaga Bonelli (2608)

The Spanish team, with an average rating of 2674, is led by five times Spanish Champion Francisco Pons Vallejo. The president of Spanish Chess Federation, Javier Ochoa de Echaguen described the Spanish team as “The Spanish dream team for the Chennai Olympiad with medals ambition!”.

1. Ana Matnadze (2406)
2. Sabrina Vega Gutierrez (2368)
3. Marta Garcia Martin (2326)
4. Monica Calzetta Ruiz (2228)
5. Maria Eizaguerri Floris (2176)

The Women’s team is led by Ana Matnadze who defends the Spanish colors in Chess Olympiads since 2012. For Sabrina Vega, this will be the 8th Chess Olympiad.
