Washington Chess Congress 2014

The Washington Chess Congress will be held from October 8-13, 2014, at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, 2799 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, Virginia.

The same venue hosted the 2014 World Open.

The event has 4 sections: Premier, Under 2100, Under 1700 and Under 1300. The Premier section has either 6-day (October 8-13), 4-day (October 10-13) or 3-day (October 11-13) schedules to play in while all other sections have either 6-day (October 8-13), 4-day (October 10-13), 3-day (October 11-13) or 2-day (October 12-13) schedules to play in.

The tournament format is 7 round Swiss with the time control 40/110, SD/30, d10.
U.S. champion Gata Kamsky will play.

The event has a $40,000 prize fund, based on 280 paid entries, with 50% of each prize guaranteed.

Premier: (Open to 1900/over) $5000-2500-1200-800-500, clear or tiebreak first bonus $100, top Under 2300/Unr $2000-1000. FIDE rated.
Under 2100: $4000-2000-1000-500-400, top Under 1900/Unr $2000-1000.
Under 1700: $3000-1500-800-500-400, top Under 1500 (no Unr) $1600-800.
Under 1300: $2000-1000-500-300-200, top Under 1100 (no Unr) $800-400.
