World Rapid & Blitz Championships 2015 to be held in Berlin

BerlinThe 2015 World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships are scheduled to take place from October 9-15, at the Bolle Meierei, in Berlin, Germany.

The event is organized by FIDE in collaboration with AGON – the World’s Chess Federation’s commercial partner, and prize fund in total of $400,000 will be distributed to the winners.

The Rapid tournament will be a 15-round Swiss open, with a single game for each round, while the Blitz tournament will be a 21-round Swiss open, with a single game for each round.

According to FIDE regulations, all players rated no less than 2500 in any of the FIDE rating lists (Standard, Blitz or Rapid) from January 2015 to August 2015 are eligible and invited to participate. The World Rapid & Blitz Championships are also open to all the National Champions representing their National Chess Federation regardless of their title or rating.

Registration will open on August 30, 2015 at 2 PM CET on Agon’s official website.
