The 2015 Guam International Open Chess Tournament took place on 18-22nd July, 2015, at the Guam Reef Hotel, Tumon, Guam.

The event was a 9-round Swiss FIDE tournament with tempo of play 90’/40 + 30′ + 30″ and prize fund in total of US$ 8,000.

Filipino star GM Eugenio Torre and his countryman GM Darwin Laylo tied for the first place with 8.5/9 points each but Torre edged his rival on a superior tie-break score to clinch the title.

The first Asian Grandmaster ever and the holder of the record for participating in the most number of World Chess Olympiads Eugenio Torre is being an active chess player at the “chess age” of 64, adding new trophies to his rich collection.
