IM Marina Guseva in the sole lead of the Russian Women’s Superfinals

The Superfinals of the 75th Russian Chess Championship and the 72nd Russian Women’s Chess Championship are simultaneously taking place in Cheboksary from 10-23 September. The events are being held at the Chuvash State Art Museum, being held as part of the Chess in Museums program carried out by the Chess Federation of Russia and the Elena and Gennady Timchenko Foundation.

The Superfinals of the 72nd Russian Women’s Chess Championship is played with 12 players in the field: Marina Guseva, Olga Girya, Valentina Gunina, Ekaterina Goltseva, Alisa Galliamova, Natalia Pogonina, Daria Charochkina, Leya Garifullina, Evgenija Ovod, Alina Bivol, Mariya Yakimova and Yana Zhapova, in 11 round-robin rounds.

After five played rounds, Marina Guseva emerged as the sole leader of the event scoring 3.5 points. She is followed by Olga Girya, Valentina Gunina and Ekaterina Goltseva who tie for the second place with 3 points, each. Scroll down for rankings after 5 rounds
