Philadelphia Open 2017

The 11th Annual Philadelphia Open will be held over the Easter weekend from April 12-16, 2017, at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, 1201 Market St., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The event has 7 sections: Open, Under 2200, Under 2000, Under 1800, Under 1600, Under 1400 and Under 1100.

The Open Section is a 5-day tournament (April 12-16) with FIDE norms possible. 9-round Swiss with time control 40/2, SD/30, d10.

Top rated Grandmasters are Aleksandr Shimanov 2650, Vladimir Belous 2581, Julio Sadorra 2580, Samuel Sevian 2574, Ruifeng Li 2565, Mark Paragua 2521, Oliver Barbosa 2509, David Berczes 2500, Angel Arribas Lopez 2498 and Magesh Panchanathan 2494.

All other sections have either a 4-day schedule, 3-day schedule or 2-day schedule (April 15-16) to participate in.

The event has a $80,000 prize fund, based on 500 paid entries, with $60,000 guaranteed.

Open: $7000-4000-2000-1000-800-600-500-500-400-400, clear or tiebreak first $200 bonus, FIDE Under 2400/Unr $2000-1000.
Under 2200/Unr: $5000-2500-1200-800-600-500-400-300-300-300.
Under 2000/Unr: $5000-2500-1200-800-600-500-400-300-300-300, unrated limit $2000.
Under 1800: $5000-2500-1200-800-600-500-400-300-300-300.
Under 1600: $4000-2000-1000-700-500-400-300-300-300-300.
Under 1400: $3000-1500-1000-700-500-400-300-300-300-300.
Under 1100/Unr: $1000-700-500-400-300-300-200-200-100-100, unrated limit $300.
Unrated not allowed in Under 1800, Under 1600 or Under 1400 sections.

The entry fees in the upper sections are ranging from 205 to 400 USD.
