Ukraine scored a narrow victory against France today, thanks to GM Igor Kovalenko’s (UKR, 2669) win over GM Pierre Laurent-Paoli (FRA, 2570). GM Ruslan Ponomariov (UKR, 2633) had a nice chance to win the game against GM Marc’Andria Maurizzi (FRA, 2624) but missed the motive to transpose into winning pawns endgame, and the game finished in a draw. The games on the second and fourth boards were very solid, and ended in draws.

Netherlands was victorious against Serbia, and scored a convincing 3-1 win to trail Ukraine by one match point. GM Anish Giri (NED, 2759) defeated GM Alexandr Predke (SRB, 2634), and GM Jorden Van Foreest (NED, 2697) outplayed GM Alexey Sarana (SRB, 2661). The games on the last two boards finished in draws.

Poland’s Women’s team extended their lead in the Women’s event, remaining perfect with 6,0/6 matches won, and now has the edge of three match points. Poland scored a win against Georgia 1 today, and the match finished with the 3-1 result. IM Alina Kashlinskaya (POL, 2450) scored against GM Nana Dzagnidze (GEO, 2496), and IM Aleksandra Maltsevskaya (POL, 2394) defeated GM Nino Batsiashvili (GEO, 2469). The games on the third and fourth boards were drawn.

Poland is now followed by three teams with the score of 9 match points each: Germany, Ukraine, and Romania.
